Dream Creates Opportunity; Help Dreams to be Achieved

Aboriginal teens who live in Zhudong often lack individual values and identity due to their background. They also experience the absence of their parents and adequate educational resources as their parents have to work outside for long hours to support the household.

Mr. Miao and Ken, who deeply care for the Aboriginal community, realized that the Aboriginal teens have potential yet lack access to opportunities. To address such issues, they collaborated with their friend, the Renum Novarum Center, to carry out Dream Come True Project. Dream Come True Project provides Aboriginal teens at Zhudong with various learning paths, improves their confidence, nurtures their courage and self-consciousness to express themselves, and directs resources into the community. Dream Come True Project carried out those goals by setting up talent classes at the Zhudong after-school care center. Students were observed to discover their interests, feel comfortable with their self-identity, and see the classes as their second home.

By hosting this talent show, students were given a chance to exhibit their efforts through the stage and galleries. The talent show also allows visitors to learn more about Aboriginal culture and observe the skills that the students have acquired. The event was expected to promote interaction among Aboriginal families and link the community together.

Ms. Jhong Jia-Ling, the director of the Renum Novarum Center, advocates for the public to care for less fortunate families who live in remote areas. One can contribute by offering help and donating money, which will hopefully assist children of less fortunate families with completing their studies and obtaining the ability to break out from predicaments that have been passed down through generations.
