Continuously Collect Anti-Pandemic Materials for Fishermen!

In Taiwan, the government leads the people to uphold the spirit of one island, one life and unite as one to resist the virus invading Taiwan. The whole country still does not dare to relax, and continues to abide by the pandemic prevention regulations and implement the small details of pandemic prevention. When the Taiwaneses continued to work hard, the virus mutation Omicron appeared in the world, causing another wave of pandemic. Countries have raised the level of pandemic prevention and tried to reduce the impact.

Rerum Novarum has long been concerned about foreign fishermen, and we continue to collect anti-pandemic materials from the general public, assist foreign fishermen to take good anti-pandemic measures, and reduce the risk of infection to avoid becoming a breach of pandemic prevention. Adhering to the spirit of one island, one life, we will continue to unite as one, turn our concerns into concrete actions, provide more anti-pandemic materials to those in need, and protect ourselves as well as others.

What materials do we need?

500 boxes of medical masks (50 pieces/box), 500 bottles of Isopropyl alcohol (500ml of 75% alcohol (with nozzle).

Why do we continue to collect anti-pandemic materials?

Medical masks: In the field of practice, we observed that because fishing is labor-intensive work, in addition to fishing, cleaning, and transporting fish, they also need to clean fishing gear and repair fishing nets. Additionally, fishermen are expose to humidity, sweat and seawater, which often makes masks soaked and needs to be replaced two or three times a day. Today, masks have become daily accessories, and the demand is really great.

Isopropyl alcohol: It is relatively difficult for fishermen to clean their living environment and items on fishing boats and shores. Therefore, in order to protect fishermen and their contacts, in addition to maintaining personal hygiene habits, they should also be cleaned up in a timely manner. Hence, they need to have enough Isopropyl alcohol.

Foreign fishermen have close interactions with captains, employers, and traders of fishing goods. There are also many tourists in the fishing port, and now there are COVID variant. Rerum Novarum continuously promote basic preventive measures: wear masks, wash hands frequently, to resist the changing environment, and these also need your support in materials!

In the long run, the fishermen is a group who has been ignored. In 2017, Rerum Novarum reach these people. We not only concern about their lives but help them solve the problem about regulation, salary payment, job accident, employers changing, human trafficking, and so on. We went to 21 ports and solve the practical problems of the fishermen. Due to the language barrier, we see many fishermen do not know how to ask for help and bear the difficult working environment instead. They are working day and night with the thin salary. We are looking forward to your help and hope your can be the protector for the foreign migrants. Press “I want to donate.” or call (02)2397-1933 #122. Thanks for your attention!
